When it comes to cooking or whipping up a quick dinner, pantry staples are your best friend.  These are the items that you have stashed in your pantry and they can be handy when you have to cook from home - as the majority of us are doing right now. Don’t shy away from taking this time to be creative in the kitchen.

With a little bit of imagination, you can turn these staple ingredients into a flavourful and healthy meal.

We’ve curated a list of pantry essentials and added our favourite recipes. Here’s our list:

Pasta

If you currently have pasta in your pantry right now, you have endless dinner time ideas that you can make in under 30 minutes. Pasta is the best non-perishable food to keep on hand right now. Keeping a few different varieties on hand are great for switching up during your meal time.

Canned/Dried Beans

Both dried beans and canned beans are great pantry staples. Majority of beans have mild flavour and can be incorporated in most recipes. They’re great to have on hand when making soups, to eat on their own or if you are in need for a good source of both protein and carbs.

Eggs

Not a “pantry essential” but these are great to have on hand. This is one of our favourites. Eggs are a great addition to so many dishes and also stand on their own. They keep for a long time in the fridge too.
