At Flashfood, we are on a mission to reduce the environmental impact of food waste and feed people more affordably. We are tackling this gigantic problem together, with a team that believes in authenticity, perseverance, and humility. Flashfood is a mobile platform that connects surplus food directly to its users at massive discounts in an effort to reduce food waste. Users scroll through deals and pay directly through their phone, and pick up their order at the grocery store. Flashfood is in 650+ stores across North America and together with our partners, such as Loblaw and the GIANT Company, we have diverted over 14 million pounds of food to date. Our small but mighty team of 50 comes from a variety of industries and backgrounds such as management consulting, emerging technology, design, engineering, and finance, and we decided it was time to do something different - something that would create a better world for future generations! As we continue our rapid growth at Flashfood, we are looking to bring on a Partnerships Lead who will be responsible for building new relationships with grocers across the United States, and further deepening relationships with our current grocer partners. You will be trusted to work independently a lot of the time as this role can be done remotely most days of the week. During COVID the team is fully remote. This doesn’t mean you’ll have trouble staying connected! You will have lots of guidance and full training. We’ll always be available to answer your questions and provide feedback. This position will report into the VP of Partnerships and engage closely with the senior leadership team at Flashfood.
Who you are
Our grocery partners rely on us to help them understand why partnering with Flashfood is one of the best investments they can make to achieve their cost savings and sustainability targets. You are an effective communicator, a PowerPoint whiz, highly adept at analysis, and confident with presenting. You are an expert at sifting through qualitative and quantitative data to synthesize and summarize what matters most to executives. When you are not meeting with our grocer partners, you will focus on identifying how we can improve across marketing, operations, and technology to provide the most value for our shoppers and our partners to increase our impact!
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and a team player. It is a demanding role that requires the ability to understand all parts of our business, be comfortable working with data and analytics, and then be able to communicate effectively to senior-level executives on your findings and recommendations. What you will do
University Degree, preference in Business Administration or Economics
Minimum 3 years experience in a related role. Experience in management consulting, business development and/or the grocery industry considered an asset
Relevant start-up experience or a passion for immersing yourself in a start-up
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical skills for applying data to make informed operating decisions
Experience presenting to C-level or senior executives
Intellectually curious, self-motivated and enjoys tackling challenges and solving problems
Passionate about reducing food waste and having a positive impact on the environment and communities in which we operate
Detail oriented with a focus on results
Growth mindset with a desire to continuously learn and improve
Team player and eager to collaborate and engage with others
Ability to travel once we’re able to again!
What you will need
Manage direct relationships with key grocery executives
Build out pitch decks and case studies that show the value of partnering with Flashfood
Prepare monthly reports for our grocer partners showing the impact of our partnerships on food waste, customer behaviors and financial results
Drive growth and momentum for our performance with existing partners and become the internal subject matter expert on these partnerships
Present findings externally to our partners and to the entire leadership team at Flashfood
Think critically to identify opportunities to improve our business across marketing, operations, technology, data & analytics
Engage collaboratively and cross-functionally with members of our entire team
Attend industry events and represent Flashfood
